Men’s Smoking Trajectories and Health-Related Quality of Life in the Whole Family: Tehran Lipid and Glucose Study

Background: We aimed to investigate the latent smoking classes in men and their association with health-related quality of life (HRQoL) themselves, wives offspring.
 Methods: Using Tehran Lipid Glucose Study (TLGS), 1781 marital stability 8-18-year-old offspring were followed for 15 years (1999-2014). Latent class growth modeling (LCGM) was used identify men's patterns 1139 at least three non-missing measurements cigarettes per day (CPD); they had 1908 children (8-18 baseline). HRQoL its physical mental component summaries (PCS MCS) measured last follow-up using SF-12v2 questionnaire. The associations family members examined generalized linear model.
 Results: LCGM revealed four trajectories patterns; non/rare smokers, decreasing light, persistent moderate heavy smokers. Persistent men, regardless amount (light or heavy), lower scores general health (ß= -7.80 ß= -10.71 class) but not overall PCS.  Conclusion: Our results show worsens own spouses' HRQoL, mainly dimensions.
